Location: Detroit, MI / Roseville, MI

Duration: 12 Months

Job Type: Temporary to Hire

Work Type: Onsite

Shift: 3:45 PM -1:45 AM (M-F)

Job Description:
  • The CNC Machinist is responsible for setting up, operating and maintaining CNC machines to produce high-quality parts that meet tight tolerances and specifications.
  • This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Set up and operate CNC machines (vertical/horizontal mills, lathes and other equipment) according to specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, sketches and process sheets.
  • Perform in-process inspections to ensure parts meet quality standards.
  • Adjust machines and tooling to maintain tight tolerances and optimal surface finishes.
  • Monitor machine operations and perform routine maintenance as required.
  • Troubleshoot machine and part issues, escalating to supervision when necessary.
  • Maintain proper documentation for parts produced, including inspection reports.
  • Move parts safely through production stages and maintain organized work areas.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and support process optimization efforts.
  • Train apprentices or new operators when required.
Required Skills & Competencies:
  • Minimum 3-5 years of CNC machining experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints and work orders.
  • Familiarity with precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc.).
  • Mechanical aptitude and a strong desire to learn new techniques and processes.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Dependable with consistent attendance and punctuality.
  • Open to working overtime, weekends and flexible shifts as required.
Education & Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED required; Technical or Trade School Certification preferred.
  • Previous CNC machining or programming experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with milling, turning and precision machining operations.
  • Experience in aerospace, steel mill or precision manufacturing environments is advantageous.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment (noise, oil, heat, and moving equipment).
  • Must adhere to PPE and all Client safety protocols.
