Job Title: Credit Risk Analyst Location: London based – 3 days a week Salary –£35k - £42K basic, some flex for an outstanding candidate About the Credit Risk Analyst My client is a fast growth startup who have disrupted the SME lending ecosystem after last 18 months of trading – They have launched with a multitude of products to support SME businesses inc Unsecured Loans & Revolving credit line and already have plans for 2 new product launches in 2026 They pride themselves in speed, efficiency & utilising open banking to make fair & fast lending decisions up to £500K… As a team of 25 in the UK, it’s a perfect time to join the company as you will have real ability to impact business growth, influence credit & risk remit and grow your career. The head of credit & risk is passionate around providing a motivated, proactive individual the chance to join her team allowing real exposure to various tasks around credit & risk and have autonomous decision making on lending deals up to £100K which will increase as you develop… Responsibilities and duties will include: First line of credit sanctioning, taking responsibility for collating data, assessing information, and recommending credit facilities Manage a portfolio of SME clients from a risk management perspective Analyse credit data and bank statements to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money to a client Generate risk rating outputs using standard templates, and to evaluate customers' financial status Prepare credit applications and submit to sanctioning authority for approval Evaluate customer records on an ongoing basis, and review client files to identify and manage accounts showing signs of distress Work with the wider business and the development team to improve the collation of data, risk assessment tools, and process improvements Continually assess the clients’ ongoing creditworthiness Contribute towards the strategic development of the business, and in particular the Credit Management function Essential Skills and Competencies 2-3 years of experience in commercial loan underwriting, credit sanctioning or credit analysis within the UK SME sector – Ideally held lending mandate of minimum of £40K Strong business acumen with a clear understanding of the risk and revenue factors that influence creditworthiness Confident in interpreting and analysing financial statements Experience working with Open Banking data Self-motivated and adaptable, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and changing environment Excellent communication skills with regular customer contact and close collaboration with other teams Analytical mindset with a practical approach to problem solving, offering scalable solutions and suggesting process improvements Negotiate effectively with a range of stakeholders For more information please get in touch or to apply send your CV now
