Job Description
An ICs Cybersecurity Engineer is responsible for monitoring all OT assets (servers, endpoint machines, network equipment, etc.), coordinating investigations, providing incident response, conducting threat hunts, engineering new detections, and ensuring perimeter security through external network connection processes.
What you will do
- Safeguard the organization’s operational technology environment by monitoring and defending systems that enable safe, reliable production and physical operations.
- Maintain enterprise-wide visibility across industrial control systems, Windows infrastructure, network devices, and perimeter security.
- Detect, investigate, and coordinate response to cybersecurity threats impacting operational environments, prioritizing safety and business continuity.
- Use monitoring platforms and SIEM tools to detect anomalous behavior, policy violations, and potential cyber threats.
- Proactively identify emerging risks through threat hunting and analysis of industrial network activity.
- Strengthen detection capabilities by developing and refining threat use cases tailored to OT environments.
- Ensure perimeter and network segmentation controls effectively protect critical operational assets.
- Partner closely with operations, engineering, IT, and cybersecurity teams to manage risk without disrupting production.
- Lead or contribute to incident response efforts to contain threats before they impact safety or reliability.
- Document incidents, investigations, and response actions in accordance with organizational procedures.
- Support root cause analysis and lessons learned activities following cyber events.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of OT SOC processes, playbooks, and monitoring coverage.
Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of cybersecurity experience; OT/ICS experience preferred.
- Experience in energy, manufacturing, utilities, or other critical infrastructure environments preferred.
- Flexibility in schedule for working with a global team; member of on‑call rotation.
- Understanding of Operational Technology (OT), Industrial Control Systems (ICS), and SCADA environments.
- Experience monitoring and defending Windows‑based systems and server infrastructure in production environments.
- Knowledge of industrial networking concepts, segmentation strategies, and firewall architectures.
- Familiarity with industrial protocols (e.g., Modbus, DNP3, OPC, Ethernet/IP).
- Experience working with SIEM platforms and security monitoring tools.
- Ability to develop, tune, and maintain threat detections and alert logic.
- Experience conducting cyber incident investigations and root cause analysis.
- Knowledge of remote access security controls and secure perimeter design.
- Familiarity with OT security monitoring platforms preferred.
- Familiar with knowledge of the NIST Cyber Security Framework.
