Data Governance Lead

A leading global financial services institution is hiring a Data Governance to play a critical role in shaping enterprise-wide data governance and data management. This is not a BAU or policy development role. This role will not only shape and develop data management frameworks but also ensure their adoption.

This is a business facing role, working with senior stakeholders across the organization whilst working with cybersecurity and other tech teams to ensure the tools and tech being used across the organization comply with data management frameworks. This role will have a big focus on unstructured data.

The role is a combination of technical skills, business understanding and leadership to be able to design and implement data governance and management processes and frameworks that are scalable.

This is a leadership role that will build enterprise wide data governance and management capability.

The Mandate

?Build the Unstructured Data Classification engineDesign and implement enterprise-wide classification, tagging, and labelling frameworks for unstructured data (documents, communications, media, etc.).

? Drive the AI Data RoadmapOwn the strategic roadmap to systematically label and structure unstructured data—fueling next-generation AI and machine learning capabilities.

? Elevate Model PerformancePartner with AI and cybersecurity teams to improve model accuracy, reduce misclassification, and enhance algorithmic intelligence.

? Optimise at ScaleContinuously refine annotation workflows, sampling strategies, and platform capabilities to drive efficiency and precision.

? Lead Across the BusinessCollaborate with data owners, engineers, vendors, and business leaders to embed best-in-class data practices across the organisation.

? Own the Data LifecycleDrive end-to-end enterprise data management for unstructured data—from registration to classification, quality assurance, and governance.

? Build CapabilityMentor and develop talent, elevating data stewardship and governance maturity across teams.

Ideal Background

We are looking for a senior data governance professional with:10+ years of strong hands on data governance and management implementation experience within financial servicesExperience with driving the adoption of data governance and management frameworksExperience working with unstructured data is a nice to haveDeep expertise in taxonomy design, and labelling frameworksStrong experience working alongside AI/ML and cybersecurity teamsSolid understanding of data architecture, lifecycle management, and data quality frameworksHands-on experience with data annotation tools and AI workflowsProven ability to influence stakeholders and translate complex data concepts into business impactLeadership experience with a track record of building teams and optimising processes
