Position Overview

We are looking for a motivated Design Engineer to support our engineering and product development team through CAD modeling, drafting, design documentation, and prototyping support.


The Design Engineer will assist in the design, development, testing, and documentation of compound bow components and assemblies. This role requires strong proficiency in SolidWorks, technical drafting skills, and a working understanding of compound bow systems and tolerancing principles. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, mechanically inclined, and excited about archery and precision manufacturing.


Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain 3D CAD models and assemblies in SolidWorks.
  • Produce 2D manufacturing drawings with GD&T and proper tolerancing.
  • Assist with engineering change requests (ECN) and revision tracking.
  • Support development of compound bow components including:
  • Cams, modules, axles, limbs, risers, pockets, cable systems, and hardware
  • Perform basic tolerance stack-ups and fit/function evaluations.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide constructive feedback to improve design outcomes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality, and product management, to ensure designs meet functional and manufacturing feasibility.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing to troubleshoot issues and improve designs.
  • Work with engineers to refine designs for manufacturability and assembly.
  • Support prototype builds, testing documentation, and design validation.
  • Conduct research and analysis to support design decisions and identify optimal materials, processes and technologies.
  • Maintain organized CAD file structures and drawing standards.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in design engineering.
  • Adheres to company and department policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Mechanical Design, Drafting, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks (modeling, assemblies, and drawings)
  • Familiarity with PDM systems (SolidWorks) is preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Previous experience with machining, CNC processes and working in manufacturing environments is preferred
  • Strong understanding of technical drafting practices
  • Working knowledge of GD&T / tolerancing principles
  • Experience with designing composite, aluminum, or high-tolerance mechanical assemblies is preferred.
  • Familiarity with compound bow componentry and terminology
  • Passion for archery, hunting, and product performance development
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and manufacturing specs
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
  • Ability to work in a hands-on environment with prototypes and hardware

  • Shot a bow with a draw-weight up to 70lbs
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools and to handle other bow components
  • Lifting and transporting objects, such as laptop, paperwork, project materials
  • Manipulate Machines, Tools, Equipment involved in product testing, and assemblies.
  • Will need to lift: 40lbs on occasion, 25lbs often, and 10lbs on a regular basis
