Job Description

Meet the team: Join our R&D Engineering Test Team supporting the development of next-generation Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) systems. Our team partners closely with R&D engineers to enable accurate and consistent testing from early development through design verification. We work hands-on in the lab, support a wide range of test methods and equipment, and value collaboration, disciplined execution, and clear documentation.

This role works closely with engineers, technicians, and cross-functional partners to support evolving project and testing needs. About this position: Engineering Technician 3 is a key technical contributor within the R&D Engineering Test Team, responsible for executing and supporting test activities across all phases of product development. This role focuses on accurate and consistent test execution, a strong understanding of laboratory equipment and measurement fundamentals, and disciplined documentation of test results and observations.

Engineering Technician 3s support feasibility, development, DOE, characterization, and design verification testing, create and maintain basic measurement routines/recipes to enable repeatable data collection, and provide hands-on support for fixture updates and improvements under engineering direction. Where you come in: Set up, configure, and execute test and measurement activities across feasibility, development, DOE, characterization, and design verification phases. Develop a strong functional understanding of laboratory and inspection equipment, including system capabilities, limitations, and sources of measurement variability.

Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain test systems such as vision-based measurement tools, microscopes, mechanical test machines, data acquisition systems, and environmental chambers. Create, modify, and maintain simple measurement routines, programs, recipes, and testing paths within laboratory equipment software to support defined test intent and repeatable data collection. Execute testing based on engineering direction, test objectives, or existing procedures, ensuring accurate data collection and clear documentation of test conditions and results.

Accurately interpret and follow written test methods, protocols, and procedures, executing testing without reliance on verbal instruction alone. Document test results and detailed observations (not just measurements), including anomalies and unexpected behaviors, to support engineering understanding and investigations. Support fixture and equipment development through assembly, setup, validation, testing, and troubleshooting of fixtures, equipment, and processes.

Use CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks or equivalent) to support fixture updates and revisions (e.g., small design changes, updates to existing models/drawings, basic adapters), under guidance from engineering or senior technicians. Collaborate closely with engineers during early development and DOE activities to implement practical measurement approaches and identify equipment or setup limitations. Support lab operations including test planning, scheduling, equipment readiness, audits, environmental monitoring, and safety compliance.

Ability to support required schedule flexibility based on testing needs, including early morning starts, late evening coverage, split or staggered shifts, and extended hours when necessary to ensure test continuity, data integrity, or issue resolution. What makes you successful: Associate degree in a technical field or equivalent hands-on laboratory experience. Experience executing test activities in an R&D or laboratory environment.

Ability to interpret and execute written test methods, protocols, and procedures accurately. Strong understanding of measurement fundamentals, test setups, and equipment functionality. Demonstrated ability to document test results and observations clearly and objectively in real time.

Proficiency creating and maintaining basic measurement routines/recipes within common lab equipment software platforms. Working CAD proficiency (e.g., SolidWorks or equivalent) to support fixture updates and improvements; does not require full fixture design ownership. Proficiency with common productivity tools such as Microsoft Word and Excel.

Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple testing activities. Effective written and verbal communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams. Experience supporting regulated product development and audit environments is a plus.

Relevant certifications (CBET, CTT, ISTQB, or similar) are strongly recommended and demonstrate a commitment to disciplined testing, documentation practices, and technical development.
