Grant Accountant
We are partnering with a mission-driven nonprofit organization to identify a detail-oriented Grant Accountant to support the financial management of a diverse portfolio of grants. This role is ideal for someone passionate about making an impact while ensuring compliance, transparency, and strong financial stewardship of grant funding.
Key Responsibilities of the Grant Accountant:
- Manage the full lifecycle of grants, including budgeting, tracking, reporting, and closeout
- Monitor and track restricted funds to ensure compliance with donor and grantor requirements
- Prepare and submit accurate financial reports in accordance with grant guidelines and deadlines
- Reconcile grant accounts and investigate variances between budget and actuals
- Partner closely with program managers to support budgeting, forecasting, and spending decisions
- Assist with audits and prepare supporting documentation related to grant activity
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and private funding requirements, including Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200)
- Maintain strong internal controls and support process improvements related to grant management
Qualifications of the Grant Accountant:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 2+ years of accounting experience, with nonprofit and/or grant accounting experience preferred
- Knowledge of fund accounting and restricted fund management
- Familiarity with grant compliance and reporting requirements
- Experience with nonprofit accounting systems (e.g., Blackbaud, NetSuite, MIP) is a plus
- Strong Excel skills and high attention to detail
