A long-standing creative marketing agency is expanding its senior leadership team and hiring a Head of Accounts to oversee a portfolio of enterprise-level clients and guide the agency's account organization. This individual will manage 3-5 Marketing Directors supporting $20M+ in total revenue across 8–9 high-value accounts.
You will be fully accountable for account health, client satisfaction, profitability, and strategic decision-making while steering long-term growth and new-client acquisition. Approximately 50% of this role is business development (expanding existing business and securing new logos), 25% is team leadership, and 25% is acting as a GM for the portfolio.
This role reports directly to the COO, who previously held this position — providing a clear, proven path for advancement. The agency promotes internally, is scaling rapidly, and is opening this role due to both upward mobility at the executive level and increased enterprise client demand. Ideal candidates come from creative/digital agency environments and excel at executive-level storytelling, high-value negotiations, and leading multi-disciplinary teams through complex, multi-channel digital deliverables.
Travel Requirements
Quarterly, pre-planned client travel plus occasional quick-turn trips with 1–2 weeks' notice for pitches or strategic engagements. Trips are usually 1 night and domestic. A passport is preferred for occasional international client meetings.
Must-haves
• 12+ years overseeing enterprise-level clients within a creative or digital agency (brand-side experience alone will not be considered)
• 8+ years leading and developing teams (coaching, resourcing, performance management)
• Proven ability to run multiple large-scale accounts simultaneously
• Demonstrated success driving account growth, retaining multimillion-dollar clients, and securing new business
• Executive-level selling, presentation, and negotiation skills
• Deep understanding of digital marketing, multi-channel strategy, and agency operations
• Experience managing $10M+ budgets, SOW creation, forecasting, and profitability metrics
• Strong decision-making and conflict-resolution ability
• Strong presence and ability to present confidently to C-suite audiences
Plusses
• Experience supporting an agency during scaling, restructuring, or rapid growth
• Exposure to crisis management for key clients
• Background in OKR planning or leading agency-wide initiatives
• Familiarity with emerging digital channels or performance marketing tools
