Job Title: Mechanical Engineer (Automotive – Infotainment/Telematics)

Location: Mountain View, CA

Job Type: Full-Time

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Mechanical Engineer (Automotive) to support the design and development of Infotainment and Telematics hardware systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automotive mechanical engineering, hands-on experience in product design, analysis, and manufacturing processes, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical design and development of automotive infotainment and telematics modules.
  • Perform detailed mechanical design, 3D CAD modeling, and 2D drawing release.
  • Conduct FEA, thermal analysis, and tolerance stack-up to ensure design robustness.
  • Support tooling development, prototype builds, and production release.
  • Work with manufacturing teams on aluminum die casting, sheet metal, and plastic enclosures.
  • Drive design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA).
  • Coordinate with electrical, hardware, and system engineering teams.
  • Manage suppliers, review tooling, and support validation and testing activities.
  • Ensure compliance with automotive standards, reliability, and quality requirements.
  • Support failure analysis, root cause investigations, and design improvements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 10+ years of automotive mechanical engineering experience, with at least 2 years in Infotainment and/or Telematics.
  • Strong experience in mechanical design, FEA, thermal analysis, and tolerance stack-up.
  • Hands-on knowledge of tooling, aluminum die casting, and sheet metal design.
  • Proficiency with CAD tools (CATIA, NX, Creo, or SolidWorks).
  • Experience working with automotive OEMs or Tier-1 suppliers.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with automotive validation, environmental testing, and vibration/shock analysis.
  • Knowledge of GD&T, DFMEA, PFMEA, and APQP processes.
  • Prior experience supporting mass production programs.
