Mechanical Engineer

Based in Mumbai

About the role

This role focuses on designing and developing complex mechanical systems that form part of an advanced electrochemical platform. The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for translating early-stage prototypes into scalable, manufacturable designs, working closely with cross-functional engineering teams.

The position requires a hands-on, technically strong individual who can iterate rapidly, optimize designs for performance and cost, and support the transition from concept to production. It is well-suited for someone comfortable working in a fast-paced, experimental environment with high levels of ambiguity and innovation.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and development of mechanical components and assemblies for advanced hardware systems
  • Translate early-stage prototypes into scalable, functional, and manufacturable designs
  • Develop and refine prototypes through iterative design cycles, from proof-of-concept to production-ready solutions
  • Optimize designs for performance, manufacturability (DFM), ease of assembly, and cost efficiency
  • Conduct testing using experimental and simulation methods to validate performance under various conditions
  • Analyze test results and collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve system design
  • Prepare detailed engineering documentation and specifications for manufacturing and production
  • Work closely with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure successful execution of designs
  • Contribute to the development of next-generation systems through continuous innovation and improvement

Requirements:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical design of parts and assemblies
  • Experience working with suppliers and manufacturers to bring designs into production
  • Strong knowledge of materials, including metals, polymers, and common alloys
  • Familiarity with a range of manufacturing and prototyping processes
  • Proficiency in CAD and CAM tools
  • Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals and mechanics of materials
  • Ability to operate hands-on in a fast-paced, iterative development environment
  • Proactive, self-driven mindset with the ability to solve open-ended problems

Nice-to-haves:

  • Experience designing parts for chemical processes
  • Experience with power electronics
  • Modeling experience (FEA, CFD)
  • Passion for carbon management solutions
  • Comfort with working in cross-functional teams across jurisdictions
