Key Responsibilities
1. Mechanical Design & Engineering
· Design transformer tank structures, enclosures, core clamps, radiators, conservators, and support structures
· Prepare GA drawings, fabrication drawings, and BOMs
· Perform thermal, mechanical, and structural calculations
· Ensure designs meet:
o UL Standards (UL 1561, UL 50, etc.)
o IEEE Standards (C57 series)
o DOE efficiency requirements
2. Product Development
· Develop designs for:
o Low Voltage Dry-Type (VPI) Transformers
o K-Rated Transformers (K4, K13, K20)
o Pad-Mounted Transformers
o Oil-Filled Distribution Transformers
3. Manufacturing & Process Engineering
· Support setup of:
o Impregnation vessels (VPI)
o Oven/trolley systems
o Assembly lines
4. Vendor Development & Sourcing
· Identify and qualify vendors for:
o Transformer tanks
o Radiators
o Hardware components
· Evaluate supplier drawings and ensure compliance with specifications
5. Quality & Compliance
· Ensure adherence to:
o UL / DOE / IEEE / IEC standards
· Work with QA team for:
o Dimensional inspections
o Leak tests
o Pressure/vacuum tests
6. Testing & Validation Support
· Assist in:
o Routine and type testing
7. Documentation & ERP Integration
· Maintain:
o Engineering drawings
8. Cross-Functional Coordination
· Work closely with:
o Electrical design team
o Production team
o QA/QC
o US engineering counterparts
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (B. Tech / BE)
· 2–6 years of experience in:
o Transformer manufacturing
Preferred Skills
· Strong knowledge of:
o Transformer tank design
o Welding standards (ASME / IS)
· Experience with:
o AutoCAD / SolidWorks
