Job Description
CBCL Limited is hiring a Municipal Engineer / Engineer-in-Training (EIT) for the Municipal Department in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Key Responsibilities Contribute to the design and planning of civil infrastructure projects, including water distribution, wastewater collection and pumping, sanitary sewer systems, and stormwater management facilities. Assist in developing detailed design drawings and technical documentation using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
Work alongside senior engineers and multidisciplinary teams to refine design concepts, perform engineering calculations, and ensure project specifications meet client needs and regulatory standards. Participate in site visits and fieldwork, collecting essential data for infrastructure investigations, observing construction activities, and supporting resident observation duties. Prepare technical reports, cost estimates, and tender documents.
Capabilities and Credentials A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering is required, with registration or eligibility for registration with the appropriate Canadian provincial engineering association. Minimum 3 years of related experience; experience in water distribution, sanitary sewer design, stormwater management, and site development is preferred. Experience in a consulting environment is a valuable asset.
Proficiency with design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, InfraWorks, WaterCAD, PCSWMM, and ArcMap. Strong verbal and written communication abilities to effectively convey technical information and collaborate with project stakeholders. Proven ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently, maintain attention to detail, and thrive in a deadline‑oriented environment.
