Network Engineer
Autonomai Recruitment
Job Description
A fast-growing technology-driven trading firm is looking for a Network Engineer to help build, optimise, and support high-performance low-latency infrastructure across trading, crypto, and cloud environments. The role will focus on designing and supporting resilient global networks, improving performance across colocation and data centre environments, and helping scale secure cloud infrastructure that supports latency-sensitive services.
You will work across network engineering, production support, automation, and infrastructure improvement, partnering closely with trading, platform, and engineering teams. This is a hands‑on role for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, reducing operational risk, and working in environments where speed, uptime, and precision matter.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and support low-latency network infrastructure across data centres, colocation sites, and cloud environments.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimise network performance, latency, traffic flow, and overall reliability.
- Support routing and switching across complex environments, including BGP, OSPF, TCP/UDP, and multicast.
- Improve connectivity between trading systems, exchanges, crypto platforms, and distributed services.
- Automate network and infrastructure tasks using Python and infrastructure-as-code approaches where possible.
- Work on upgrades, migrations, capacity planning across global environments.
- Help maintain secure, scalable cloud infrastructure and contribute to observability, monitoring, and incident response practices.
- Partner with engineering and operations teams to improve deployment, resilience, and operational efficiency across production systems.
Requirements
- Experience in network engineering within low-latency, trading, financial markets, or other mission-critical environments.
- CCNP/CCIE level knowledge of routing and switching, including BGP, OSPF, multicast, TCP/IP, and WAN/LAN networking.
- Experience working with high-performance network vendors and platforms such as Cisco, Arista, or Juniper.
- Good understanding of colocation, data centre networking, and performance-sensitive infrastructure design.
- Experience supporting Linux-based production systems and using monitoring or alerting tools in live environments.
- Scripting or automation experience with Python, Ansible, Terraform, or similar tools.
- Exposure to AWS or other cloud platforms, with an understanding of scalability, reliability, and security in cloud environments.
- Troubleshooting ability, clear communication skills, and a proactive approach to ownership and continuous improvement.
