** Connection Services** is seeking a Network Engineer to join our Technical Staffing Division for a contract to hire opportunity onsite in Brunswick, GA. This is a contract to hire opportunity with benefits.
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Network Engineer with strong hands‑on experience in Extreme Networks to support, troubleshoot, and evolve a complex enterprise network environment. This role requires deep technical expertise across firewalls, switching, routing, wireless/cloud networking, and network monitoring, with a strong focus on security, reliability, and scalability. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in multi‑vendor environments and supporting modern, segmented network architectures.
Key Responsibilities
Firewall & Security
- Troubleshoot complex network and connectivity issues across enterprise environments
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Palo Alto firewalls, including high availability (HA) pairings
- Deploy, manage, and troubleshoot site‑to‑site and remote‑access VPN tunnels
- Create, manage, and optimize firewall security policies
- Ensure network security aligns with NIST, SIEM, and industry‑standard frameworks
- Partner with security teams to support monitoring, logging, and compliance initiatives
Switching & Campus Networking
- Design, deploy, and support Extreme Networks switching infrastructure (core requirement)
- Support and troubleshoot Arista Cloud, Cisco, and Juniper switching platforms
- Perform advanced Layer 2 troubleshooting, including Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) and its variants
- Implement IP address scope deployment and VLAN segmentation across campus environments
Wireless & Network Applications
- Support wireless cloud platforms including Extreme, Arista, Meraki, or Juniper
- Leverage strong CLI skills across multiple vendor platforms for configuration and troubleshooting
- Monitor network health and performance using tools such as SolarWinds, Auvik, PRTG, Nagios, Datadog, or LogicMonitor
- Demonstrate deep expertise across OSI Layers 1–4, resolving complex physical through transport‑layer issues
Routing & Network Architecture
- Implement and troubleshoot BGP routing, including policy design and operational support
- Support and adopt IS‑IS routing, which will serve as the new protocol for internal campus network design
- Design and maintain network segmentation strategies to support performance, security, and scalability
Required Qualifications
- ** Hands‑on experience with Extreme Networks (required)**
- Strong experience with Palo Alto firewalls, including HA, VPNs, and security policy creation
- Advanced knowledge of enterprise switching, routing, and wireless networking
- Proven experience with BGP and exposure to IS‑IS routing
- Expertise in network segmentation and campus network design
- Strong troubleshooting skills across multi‑vendor network environments
- Proficiency with at least one network monitoring platform (SolarWinds, Auvik, PRTG, Nagios, Datadog, LogicMonitor)
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with security frameworks such as NIST and SIEM integrations
- Experience supporting cloud‑managed networking platforms
- Relevant networking or security certifications (Extreme, Palo Alto, Cisco, Arista, Juniper)
