Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Network Engineer. This role will perform the following duties but not limited to:

  • Design and plan network communication systems, providing specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture.
  • Conduct testing of network design and monitor network hardware operations to ensure proper configuration options.
  • Plan implementation of network enhancements and upgrades.
  • Advise network users on hardware requirements, configurations, and limitations.
  • Maintain technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, including routers, firewalls, switches, sensors, and gateways.
  • Evaluate and report on new communications technologies to enhance network capabilities.
  • Oversee the deployment of new infrastructure systems.
  • Perform code upgrades on network infrastructure.
  • Monitor infrastructure performance and health, responding to and resolving infrastructure-related incidents and outages.
  • Ensure proper configuration management of network configuration items.
  • Provide traffic engineering analysis and studies such as WAN optimization and IP packet capture for troubleshooting.
  • Troubleshoot storage replication issues, link errors, congestion, and service interruptions.
  • Provide customer network site surveys.
  • Develop and manage the execution of detailed transition plans for projects.
  • Provide input and detailed response plans for Risk Management.
  • Develop and maintain Concept of Operations documentation.
  • Participate in organization meetings, town halls, and similar events to integrate into the organization structure.

Qualifications

  • 5 years with BS/BA; 3 years with MS/MA; 0 years with PhD
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must have active Secret clearance
  • Must have 8570 Certification - Security +
  • Operate and maintain Big IP F5 partitions, including architecture, configuration, and ongoing operational support
  • Experience with the configuration and operation of Cisco and Juniper switching and routing infrastructure
  • Familiar with Department of Defense network security requirements and capable of architecting, configuring, and operating enterprise security appliances (e.g., load balancers) to support distributed enterprise applications such as data backup and application load balancing across the enterprise

Target Salary Range

$104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
