Role Summary


The New Product Manufacturing Engineer (NPME) supports new product introduction (NPI) and continuous improvement programs (CIP) by coordinating with design, operations, suppliers, and global product teams. The role focuses on developing optimized manufacturing strategies, releasing product structures/BOMs, performing virtual builds, analyzing manufacturability, and ensuring smooth transition of products from design into manufacturing. The ideal candidate brings hands-on CAD/PLM experience (NX, Teamcenter/Creo), strong understanding of DFx principles, and the ability to lead early product development manufacturing activities.


Key Responsibilities

1. New Product Introduction & Engineering Coordination

•Interface with Engineering teams to support release of new products and product enhancements under PLC/CIP programs.

•Release Super BOMs and ensure readiness for Phase Gate exit milestones.

•Launch, approve, and implement Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), Non-Standard Requests (NSRs), and change control activities.


2. Virtual Build & Manufacturing Strategy

•Perform virtual builds (DMU/Master Layout) to identify early manufacturability issues.

•Determine optimum manufacturing, sourcing, packaging, and shipping strategies for modules/products.

•Partner with senior NPMEs in conducting 3D solid model analyses and participate in design reviews to provide DFx feedback (DFA, DFAe, DFTp, ITO).


3. Documentation & Process Development

•Develop and validate Operation Method Sheets (OMS) for medium complexity assemblies.

•Create and maintain module-level Master Layout.

•Develop, edit, and maintain business processes and procedures to reflect current practices.


4. Tooling, Fixtures & Supplier Coordination

•Collaborate with Design SMEs to develop tooling, test fixtures, and aids to achieve high-quality assembly and test processes.

•Support suppliers and contract manufacturers with technical guidance related to module/assembly builds.


5. Manufacturing Builds & Issue Resolution

•Participate in New Product Builds; perform root cause analysis (RCA) for assembly/test issues.

•Drive both short-term containment and long-term corrective actions.

•Lead Managed Builds for modules and support resolution of supplier, build, and field issues in alignment with corporate processes.


6. Failure Mode Analysis & Quality Improvement

•Conduct Process Failure Mode, Effects & Criticality Analysis (PFMECA) during new product development.

•Document product issues, enhancement opportunities, and support continuous improvement initiatives.


7. Team Support & Mentoring

•Provide informal leadership through mentoring of junior engineers.

•Deliver training/support to shop floor teams and suppliers on BOM structures, build processes, and engineering intent.


Required Skills & Technical Expertise

Manufacturing Engineering Knowledge

•Strong understanding of manufacturing engineering principles, product structure, bill of materials, producibility/manufacturability, and value engineering.

•Knowledge of engineering specification waivers, non-conformance (NC), DMRs, and SPS processes.


CAD/PLM & Digital Tools

•Experience with NX / Creo for 3D CAD modeling.

•Experience with Teamcenter (mandatory), including Visualization tools.

•Working knowledge of ERP applications, preferably SAP.


DFx & Process Skills

•Practical application of DFx methodologies (DFA, DFM, DFQ, DFTest).

•Experience in failure mode analysis (FMEA/PFMECA).

•Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specs, and standards.
