JOB SUMMARY

The Nurse Resident/Graduate Nurse is a graduate of an accredited nurse program awaiting licensure. Performs various duties assisting in the treatment and care of patients under the supervision of licensed or professional nursing staff inaccordance with the established policies and procedures of the hospital.

Job Specific

  1. Collaborates with each patients nurse, the plan of care on assigned patients for the given shift. (EF)
  2. Provides ADLs, promotes mobility, and assists with nutritional needs per unit routine and under the direction of the licensed nurse within the guidelines and policies of Citizens Medical Center.(EF)
  3. Promotes skin care, nutrition/hydration, and decubitus prevention. (EF)
  4. Observes patient progress and changes in patient status and reports significant changes to the licensed nurse on a timely basis. (EF)
  5. Assists with admissions, transfers and discharges within guidelines and policies as per the BON Texas Administrative Code Rule 224 and of Citizens Medical Center. (EF)
  6. Participates in development of self and skills to enhance patient focused care. (EF)
  7. Uses authorized equipment within scope of practice to gather and document data on stable, established patients. (EF)
  8. Accurately records interventions in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). (EF)
  9. Reports significant and/or abnormal values to licensed nurse on a timely basis. (EF)
  10. Actively participates in the department's performance improvement initiatives. (EF)
  11. Assists in meeting basic needs for patients in restraints within the PNT Scope of Practice. (EF)
  12. Performs patient care and duties with emphasis on patient rights, patient confidentiality, HIPPA compliance, adaptation of care according to age and cultural or ethical considerations. (EF)
  13. Facilitates maintenance of equipment by the standards of Citizens Medical Center. (EF)
  14. Demonstrates service excellence by utilizing the AIDET principles. (EF)
  15. Follows universal infection prevention precautions. (EF)
  16. Complies with Employee Health requirements for employment. (EF)
  17. Works in a manner that promotes safety, adhering to the dress code policy. (EF)
  18. Knows role in emergency situations and reports unsafe practices to management. (EF)
  19. Performs nursing technical skills competently within the student nurse scope of practice. (EF)
Hospital:
  1. Adheres to organization-wide and other applicable policies and procedures.
  2. Day-to-day performance complies with the hospital's Service Excellence Behavioral Expectations.
  3. Performs within the prescribed limits of the hospital's Ethics, Compliance and Confidentiality Program guidelines.
  4. Performs within professional Scope of Practice at all times as per the BON Texas Administrative code Rule 224.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited nurse program and is awaiting licensure.
  • Basic Computer Skills, good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Basic Life Support Certification upon hire
