Responsibilities

Program Director – Comprehensive Sickle Cell Disease Program Dell Children’s Medical Group & The Blood and Cancer Center of Central Texas is seeking a dynamic, mission-driven Program Director to lead and expand our Comprehensive Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) Program, a NASCC site. This is a unique opportunity to advance clinical excellence, implement innovative care models, and strengthen community engagement for pediatric patients with SCD across Central Texas. Board-certified/board-eligible in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology required.Our program currently cares for ~250 patients, supported by a dedicated team that includes advanced practice providers, a program coordinator, social work, and psychology. We emphasize multidisciplinary care and collaborate closely on joint initiatives in pain management, pulmonary hypertension, moyamoya/vasculopathy, and quality improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical leadership for the multidisciplinary SCD program
  • Oversee care delivery, quality improvement, and patient outcomes
  • Foster partnerships with academic, community, and advocacy stakeholders
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate evidence-based protocols to drive program growth

As the clinical partner site for Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin, you will also play an active role in the education and training of future physicians. Board-eligible/board-certified pediatric hematology-oncology fellowship graduates or experienced physicians are encouraged to apply.Our team includes 13 experienced Pediatric Hematology-Oncology physicians who diagnose, manage, and treat all forms of childhood cancers, blood disorders, bone marrow failure syndromes, and patients in our recently launched Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) program.Benefits Include:

Dell Children’s Medical Center (DCMC) is a 299-bed free standing pediatric facility, Pediatric Level I Trauma Center, Level IV Epilepsy Center, Level IV NICU, Special Delivery Unit, Texas Center for Pediatric Congenital Heart Disease, and Inpatient Psychiatry Mental Health Unit. Our second location, DCMC North, opened in the spring of 2022 as a 36 bed hospital. DCMC is in the Ascension Healthcare Network, the nation's largest nonprofit health system. Requirements

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • Licensed Physician MD/DO credentialed from the Texas Medical Board obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

Education:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) required.
