Job Description
Overview We currently seek a full-time attending physician to join as core faculty in the division of geriatrics to provide primary care to older adults and to provide supervision and education for medical residents and geriatrics fellows. Responsibilities Provide direct clinical care to Brooklyn’s diverse older adult population in a newly-constructed multispecialty outpatient pavilion directly adjacent to the main hospital. Serve as core faculty for the geriatrics fellowship program.
Provide geriatrics-specific education for internal medicine residents and geriatrics fellows. Participate in efforts to improve clinical geriatric care delivery throughout the medical enterprise. Participate in quality improvement efforts, morbidity and mortality conferences, and hospital initiatives.
Pursue academic projects guided by one’s own clinical questions and interests. Opportunity to engage in clinical research. Opportunity for faculty appointment at SUNY Downstate.
Qualifications Graduate of an accredited medical school (MD/DO). Fellowship training in geriatric medicine. BE/BC in related field (e.g., internal medicine, family medicine) and BE/BC in geriatrics; BE physicians are required to sit for and pass their boards at the earliest date possible.
Unrestricted New York State medical license and valid DEA license. ACLS/BLS certification. Experience working on an interdisciplinary team, with excellent interpersonal skills.
Excellent English written and verbal communication skills. Outstanding teaching skills. Interest in working with a wide range of stakeholders and disciplines to improve geriatric care delivery.
