Job Description:
- Provide routine and emergency medical care to patients or inmates in state facilities, including examination, diagnosis, treatment, monitoring progress, prescribing medications, administering vaccinations, and performing minor surgical procedures.
- Conduct routine physical examinations of clients or employees to determine medical condition for claims purposes or employment suitability.
- Attend professional meetings, work conferences, and interdisciplinary team meetings to contribute to the development of total quality care plans.
- Consult with other physicians and determine the need for specialized care or treatment; act as a consultant to other professionals such as social workers, psychiatrists, and psychologists.
- Instruct nursing, technical, and paraprofessional staff.
- Prepare medical evaluations and reports, including admission, discharge, and death summaries.
- Interpret and analyze laboratory reports and findings, and document patient progress.
- Write medical orders and instructions for nursing and support staff.
