Project Manager – IT Infrastructure & Manufacturing Facilities

Company Description

BCforward is one of the nation’s largest Black-owned workforce management and consulting firms, headquartered in Indianapolis, IN, and serving Fortune 500 organizations worldwide. We deliver technology, business, and project delivery solutions that help our clients accelerate outcomes and scale with confidence.

Role Overview

BCforward is seeking an experienced, results-driven Project Manager to lead complex IT infrastructure and facility-related projects within a regulated manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for planning, executing, and delivering projects that span IT systems, infrastructure, and construction activities – including facility upgrades, data center and network deployments, and technology rollouts supporting manufacturing operations.

The Project Manager will manage single or multiple projects concurrently, report to designated Project Sponsors, and deliver initiatives using a Waterfall project management methodology. Success in this role requires strong cross-functional leadership, disciplined execution, and experience operating in production-critical and regulated environments.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Delivery

  • Lead the planning, execution, monitoring, and closure of IT infrastructure and construction-adjacent projects from initiation through completion.
  • Define and manage project scope, objectives, milestones, schedules, and success criteria in partnership with Program Managers, project sponsors, and stakeholders.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time and within approved scope, maintaining alignment with operational and manufacturing priorities.
  • Apply structured Waterfall project management practices, including formal change control and documented approvals.

IT Infrastructure & Construction Integration

  • Oversee infrastructure-focused workstreams, including:
  • Network routing and switching (LAN/WAN, VLANs, segmentation)
  • Server and storage deployments (physical and virtual environments, SAN/NAS)
  • Data center builds, upgrades, and migrations
  • Coordinate IT activities that support facility construction, renovation, or expansion, ensuring proper sequencing between construction milestones and technology readiness.
  • Collaborate with IT engineering teams, construction managers, facilities, and operations to ensure seamless project integration.

Risk, Quality & Compliance

  • Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate project risks; develop mitigation plans, contingency strategies, and escalation paths.
  • Maintain high standards of quality, safety, and documentation, ensuring adherence to internal standards, industry best practices, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Support projects operating in regulated manufacturing environments (e.g., GMP), with awareness of validation, change management, and audit expectations.

Stakeholder & Vendor Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for project sponsors and key stakeholders, maintaining alignment on scope, expectations, and priorities.
  • Provide regular, structured status reporting on project progress, milestones, risks, and issues.
  • Manage and coordinate external vendors, contractors, and service providers to ensure deliverables meet contractual, technical, and quality standards.

Documentation & Continuous Improvement

  • Prepare and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including project plans, schedules, risk logs, status reports, and lessons learned.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of project management practices, templates, and delivery standards.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of project management experience delivering IT infrastructure projects in manufacturing, industrial, or regulated environments.
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects that involve both IT infrastructure and construction or facility-related work.
  • Strong understanding of IT infrastructure technologies, including networking, servers, storage, and data center environments.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects concurrently in a fast-paced, production-focused setting.
  • Solid expertise applying Waterfall project management methodology, including formal planning, execution, and change control.
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Preferred: PMP certification.
