Job DescriptionJob DescriptionWe are looking for a skilled Property Accountant to join our team in Bethesda, Maryland. In this role, you will collaborate closely with various departments, including Property Management, Lease Administration, and Construction, to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and a proactive approach to managing property-related financial tasks.

Responsibilities:
• Perform month-end processes such as bank reconciliations and preparing general journal entries.
• Coordinate with the accounts payable team to ensure timely vendor payments.
• Review monthly property financial statements for variances and follow up with property managers to address discrepancies.
• Monitor and manage timely payments for debt service and escrow accounts.
• Handle lender reporting requirements accurately and within deadlines.
• Track portfolio cash balances and oversee daily positive pay decisions.
• Assist in portfolio acquisitions and dispositions by collaborating with Asset Management and Lease Administration teams.
• Prepare year-end tax packages to meet filing deadlines.
• Manage annual real estate tax appeals, jurisdictional income and expense statements, and personal property tax returns.
• Collaborate with internal teams to provide accurate accounting data and participate in special projects as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and at least two years of accounting experience (real estate experience preferred).

• Proficiency with accounting software, with Yardi experience being highly desirable.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

• Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.

• Demonstrated ability to work independently, solve problems, and meet deadlines.

• Familiarity with accrual accounting and other general accounting practices.

• Knowledge of property accounting processes and month-end close procedures.
