Job Position: Quality Inspector
Pay: $23-$25 per hour (DOE)
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 1st Shift (6:00 AM - 2:00 PM)
Position Type: Temp-to-Perm (benefits offered once permanently hired)
Job Summary
The Quality Inspector ensures the integrity of steel fabrication processes and final products by following established Quality Management System (QMS) standards. This role is responsible for inspecting materials and finished products, maintaining accurate documentation, and verifying quality throughout the production process. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-focused, and experienced in a manufacturing or metal fabrication environment.

Job Summary
The Quality Inspector ensures the integrity of steel fabrication processes and final products by following established Quality Management System (QMS) standards. This role is responsible for inspecting materials and finished products, maintaining accurate documentation, and verifying quality throughout the production process. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-focused, and experienced in a manufacturing or metal fabrication environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform visual inspections of in-process and finished structural steel components (beams, columns, plates, clips)
- Evaluate welds for compliance with QMS standards and identify non-conformities requiring rework or further testing
- Conduct non-destructive testing (NDT), such as liquid penetration testing, when required
- Document inspection results and maintain QC logs and reports
- Ensure parts and assemblies are properly marked and identified at all stages of production
- Use precision measuring tools (micrometers, tape measures, etc.) to verify conformance to specifications
- Identify, mark, and communicate non-conforming materials and required repairs
- Verify incoming materials meet procurement standards, including mill certifications and heat numbers
- Maintain current drawings and remove outdated documentation from production areas
- Scan, upload, and manage documents within internal systems
- Track parts and products using mobile devices per QMS protocols
- Verify tools and equipment are calibrated and in good working condition
- Communicate inspection findings, data, and photos to management
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and QC meetings
- Follow all safety policies, OSHA regulations, and PPE requirements
- Report unsafe conditions, incidents, or hazards promptly
- Work collaboratively with team members to meet production goals
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Minimum of 4 years of quality inspection experience, in structural steel or metal fabrication
- AWS or ISO certifications
- NDT Level I, II, or III certification required within six months of hire
- Technical degree in welding, steel materials, or related field
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Strong attention to detail with good documentation and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Basic English/Spanish comprehension for safety and work instructions
- Reliable, punctual, and strong work ethic
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb for extended periods
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures, noise, dust, and debris
