Senior Data Engineer

Senior Data Engineer – Insurance & London Market We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to help shape the future of data platforms across the Insurance and London Market . This is a high-impact role designing and delivering scalable, cloud-native data solutions powering underwriting, pricing, claims, and reinsurance analytics . You will build and optimise modern data pipelines using Python, PySpark, Databricks and/or Snowflake , working within a medallion architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold) to deliver trusted, well-governed data products across the organisation.

This role requires strong domain knowledge of the London Market ecosystem , including Lloyd’s Syndicates, Delegated Authority (Coverholders/TPAs), Reinsurance, and Ceded Reinsurance , along with the ability to translate complex insurance processes into robust data engineering solutions. You’ll also take a leading role in engineering governance and delivery excellence , including CI/CD, code reviews, architecture standards, and mentoring engineers across teams. Strong stakeholder engagement is key, working closely with underwriting, actuarial, finance, and data leadership teams.

We are also embracing AI-assisted engineering , using tools like OpenAI and Claude to accelerate development, improve code quality, and enhance documentation—while maintaining strong governance and compliance standards. Tech Stack: Python, PySpark, Snowflake/Databricks, Cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP), CI/CD, modern data architecture.
