⚡ Build the systems that turn cutting-edge aerospace designs into real-world motion

This is a rare opportunity to join a fast-growing aerospace engineering team of around 20 people that is scaling quickly due to increasing demand for its mission-critical components. You will be working at the point where firmware, power electronics and real-world motor behaviour meet, with direct access to senior technical leadership and real ownership of your work from day one.

If you want to see your engineering decisions directly influence high-performance aerospace systems in production environments, this role delivers exactly that.

What you will be doing

You will sit at the intersection of firmware logic and electrical execution, owning the integration of motor controller systems into complex aerospace hardware.

  • Lead integration of motor controllers with custom inverter hardware including register-level configuration, timing validation and power stage bring-up
  • Debug real-time interactions between silicon errata, firmware behaviour and analog hardware performance in motor control systems
  • Define and document motor calibration, configuration and field maintenance procedures for production units
  • Develop and execute hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test plans to validate motor controller performance across full operating envelopes
  • Work closely with PCB designers on mixed-signal layout requirements including gate driver routing and current sense placement
  • Produce clear technical documentation including schematics, integration guides and errata workarounds for manufacturing and field teams
  • Support production troubleshooting and root cause analysis for motor controller field issues and anomalies

What you bring

  • 5+ years of experience in embedded motor control systems, power electronics or mixed-signal hardware design
  • Hands-on experience working with motor controllers at register and peripheral level
  • Strong debugging skills across firmware and hardware using oscilloscopes, logic analysers and JTAG/SWD tools
  • Solid understanding of FOC (field-oriented control), sensorless commutation and motor characterisation techniques
  • Strong PCB schematic review capability for power stages including half-bridge, full-bridge, gate drivers and current sensing
  • BSEE or equivalent required, MSEE preferred

Nice to have

  • Experience with Qorvo (Active-Semi) PAC55xx family and associated toolchains
  • Experience porting motor control firmware across silicon platforms including errata mitigation
  • Familiarity with safety-critical development practices including MISRA-C, static analysis and deterministic scheduling
  • Background in three-phase inverter design for BLDC or PMSM motors

🚀 Why this role

You are not just supporting a system here. You are shaping how it behaves in the real world. This is a chance to join at a genuine inflection point where your work will directly influence product performance, reliability and scale.
