Role Overview

The Senior Finance Executive will manage day-to-day finance operations across multiple food brands and outlets. This role focuses on controls, compliance, reporting, and unit-level profitability, working closely with operations, procurement, payroll, and leadership.


Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Operations & Controls

  • Manage daily accounting, books of accounts, and month-end closures
  • Ensure accuracy in revenue, expenses, accruals, and provisions
  • Maintain strong internal controls across outlets and central functions
  • Track cash flows, vendor advances, and inter-company transactions

2. Costing & Unit Economics (Critical for Food Startups)

  • Track food cost, packaging cost, delivery charges, and discounts
  • Monitor brand-wise and outlet-wise P&L
  • Identify cost leakages (raw material, wastage, commissions, refunds)
  • Support pricing, combo decisions, and margin improvement initiatives

3. Vendor, Procurement & Payments

  • Oversee vendor reconciliations (raw material, packaging, logistics)
  • Ensure timely payments as per credit terms
  • Validate purchase rates, GRNs, and consumption reports
  • Coordinate with ops for variance explanations

4. Payroll, Statutory & Compliance

  • Handle payroll accounting, ESI, PF, PT, TDS, and compliance changes
  • Coordinate with HR and payroll partners for accurate deductions
  • Ensure statutory filings are completed on time (GST, TDS returns, etc.)
  • Support audits, notices, and compliance reviews

5. GST, Taxation & Aggregator Reconciliation

  • Manage GST filings, input credit reconciliation, and compliance
  • Reconcile Swiggy/Zomato payouts, commissions, refunds, and TCS/TDS
  • Track discrepancies between aggregator reports and internal data

6. Reporting & MIS

  • Prepare weekly and monthly MIS for management
  • Provide clear dashboards on revenue, costs, margins, and cash position
  • Support leadership with data for decision-making and expansion plans

7. Audit, ESOP & Investor Support

  • Coordinate with statutory auditors and internal auditors
  • Support ESOP accounting, valuations, and employee records (if applicable)
  • Assist in investor reporting, board decks, and due diligence


Qualifications & Skills

  • B.com, MBA (Finance) preferred
  • Strong understanding of startup finance and food business economics
  • Hands-on experience with Tally / Zoho / ERP systems
  • Strong Excel skills (MIS, reconciliations, analysis)
  • Familiar with GST, TDS, ESI, PF, payroll structures
  • Detail-oriented, ownership mindset, comfortable in fast-moving setups
