Job DescriptionJob DescriptionWe are looking for an experienced Plant Controller to oversee and manage all financial operations within our manufacturing facility in Richmond, Virginia. This role will serve as a key financial leader, driving cost strategies, ensuring compliance, and partnering with plant leadership to improve operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, detail oriented, possess strong analytical skills, and have a proven track record in financial planning and process improvement.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement comprehensive manufacturing cost strategies, ensuring accurate cost measurement and control.
• Lead the preparation of financial and business plans, including monthly and quarterly reports.
• Manage cost accounting processes and maintain strong internal controls to ensure compliance with corporate standards.
• Provide financial analysis on operational results and proposed investments to support strategic decision-making.
• Identify and drive cost-saving initiatives and process improvement opportunities across the plant.
• Mentor, guide, and develop the accounting team, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
• Educate plant personnel on key cost drivers and their impact on performance, aligning financial goals with operational strategies.
• Act as a liaison with internal and external auditors to ensure compliance with reporting requirements.
• Oversee capital project tracking and asset management, ensuring accuracy and alignment with company objectives.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement best practices and improve business processes.• A minimum of three years of progressive experience in manufacturing accounting, preferably within a publicly held company.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management, or a related field strongly preferred.
• Extensive experience in standard cost environments, including variance analysis and inventory accounting.
• Proven ability to manage and optimize accounting and business information systems; experience with system design and implementation is a plus.
• Strong understanding of internal controls and compliance requirements for public reporting entities.
• Prior experience in a process manufacturing environment with exposure to inventory accounting.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and participate in cross-functional teams to drive cultural, operational, and financial improvements.
• Exceptional analytical and communication skills, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
