About the Role We are seeking a talented Senior Frontend Engineer to join our Signup & Activation team. In this role, you will design, build, and optimize the frontend experiences that power our user acquisition and activation funnels. You will partner closely with product managers, designers, and data analysts to deliver high‑quality solutions that enhance conversion rates, reduce friction, and create engaging first impressions. As a senior engineer, you’ll have a significant impact on Scribd’s growth strategy by ensuring our signup and activation experiences are fast, accessible, and optimized for conversion. You will also play a key role in shaping the team’s technical direction and mentoring peers. Our cross‑functional squad involves deep collaboration with other engineering teams, designers, and product managers, so confidence, accountability, and excellent communication skills are paramount. While your primary focus will be on the frontend, you’ll work closely with backend engineers to build complete product experiences powered by data and personalization. What We’re Looking For A passionate engineer who takes pride in writing clean, maintainable, and scalable code A collaborator who enjoys working across disciplines to develop high‑leverage solutions that balance technical rigor with business needs A pragmatic problem‑solver who can make smart trade‑offs based on available data and experimentation results A leader with strong architectural judgment and a collaborative mindset, capable of influencing decisions and aligning the team Someone with a passion for growth engineering who understands how frontend experiences drive business metrics Required Qualifications 6+ years of professional software development experience building and shipping customer‑facing frontend applications Expert‑level proficiency in modern TypeScript & JavaScript, especially React Solid experience with modern JavaScript frameworks (Next.js strongly preferred) Working knowledge of Ruby on Rails and its ecosystem – comfortable working in a Rails‑backed product environment Strong grasp of modern frontend fundamentals: state management, component architecture, accessibility, testing, and UI quality Experience integrating frontends with APIs (REST, GraphQL a plus) Understanding of experimentation, A/B testing, and personalization systems Ability to build high‑quality interactive experiences with attention to detail and UX polish Excellent written and verbal communication skills: as a remote company, we rely heavily on documentation and clear communication Proven ability to work in a codebase with shared patterns (monorepos, shared UI libraries, or platform constraints) and collaborate across teams Values craftsmanship, autonomy, and empathy while writing maintainable, thoughtful code and enabling others to succeed AI Fluency: Comfortable using AI tools (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, etc.) to accelerate development, debug issues, and explore solutions Nice to Have Have worked in a Growth Engineering team at a product‑led company Proficiency in Ruby on Rails that enables you to contribute to backend features and optimize full‑stack interactions Experience with backend technologies like Redis, Kafka, MySQL, and Terraform A thoughtful approach to experimentation that balances rapid iteration with code quality Strong technical communication skills with the ability to influence through technical depth and collaborative decision‑making Compensation In the state of California, the reasonably expected salary range is between $146,000 to $227,500. In the United States outside of California, the range is $120,000 to $216,500. In Canada, the range is C$152,500 to $202,000. These ranges are for the level at which this job has been scoped.
