Our client seeks a Senior Software Development Engineer to design, develop, test, and integrate cross-platform applications in a secure Agile environment. The role focuses on C++ and Qt/QML on Linux with SQLite, UI development for embedded and mobile contexts, and integration across C++, C, and Python modules. The engineer will contribute across the software development life cycle, apply secure coding and TDD practices, and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver maintainable, reliable, and performant software. Work will include configuration management, CI, and adherence to compliance and STIG standards on government programs.

Rate: $80.00 to $90.00/hr. w2

Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, test, troubleshoot, and debug software for enhancements and new software-intensive systems and products.
  • Analyze software requirements and hardware compatibility across Linux and Android environments.
  • Implement cross-platform UI using Qt/QML and contribute to embedded and mobile UI development.
  • Integrate modules and libraries across C++, C, and Python with SQLite persistence.
  • Apply secure software development practices, including TDD, CI, test automation, and refactoring.
  • Develop maintainable, efficient, reliable, understandable, secure, and fault-tolerant code using object-oriented and functional principles.
  • Support configuration management and interface requirements for APIs and host systems, including virtualized, containerized, or hardware targets.
  • Collaborate in an Agile Scrum environment with UI/UX, systems, information assurance, and QA teams.
  • Influence solution design and engineering approaches across multiple technical areas.

Experience Requirements:
  • Active Secret DoD security clearance.
  • 8+ years of experience developing for Linux/Unix operating systems.
  • Excellent coding abilities and extensive experience with C++.
  • Experience with CMake and Bash scripting.
  • Proven experience designing and implementing UIs for embedded applications or mobile devices using cross-platform tools and modern UI design.
  • Experience structuring software to separate presentation, business logic, and persistence.
  • Experience with Android application platforms and Qt (5+ years preferred) (preferred).
  • Experience in Scrum or other Agile practices (preferred).
  • Mobile application development experience (preferred).
  • Experience with software configuration management tools such as Subversion, Git, GitLab, or GitHub (preferred).
  • Experience with UI/UX development frameworks such as Qt, Android, AngularJS, Ionic, GWT, SmartGWT, React, or Node.js (preferred).
  • Experience with Agile management tools such as VersionOne, JIRA, or Rally (preferred).
  • Experience with automated testing tools and concepts such as Squish for Qt, TDD, Selenium, Cucumber, Gherkin, or BDD (preferred).
  • Experience with formalized API development methodologies such as OpenAPI 3.0 (preferred).
  • Experience with Docker (preferred).
  • Experience with C or Python (preferred).
  • Experience with Java (preferred).

Education Requirements:
  • BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • MS in a technical domain (preferred).
  • Doctorate in a technical domain (preferred).
