Senior User Experience Consultant

We are looking for a skilled and empathetic User Experience (UX) Consultant to support the redesign of our digital platforms. In this role, you’ll ensure our websites and tools are accessible, trauma-informed, culturally safe, and responsive to the real-world needs of our diverse audiences—including patients, caregivers, and frontline healthcare providers.

• Lead and document user research and co-design workshops with a focus on equity-deserving, underserved, and priority populations.
• Develop personas, journey maps, and identify pain points across key touchpoints for accessing healthcare services.
• Create and iterate low- and high-fidelity wireframes/prototypes, ensuring mobile-first design and testing with representative users.
• Provide UX recommendations to improve service findability, plain language use, layout, and navigation flow.
• Ensure all design work aligns with WCAG 2.1 AA, trauma-informed, culturally safe, and inclusive design principles.
• Work closely with development and content teams to validate and implement UX solutions within technical and governance constraints.

️ Mandatory Skills & Experience:

• ✔️ Proven experience in user-centered design, preferably in healthcare, public sector, or projects involving equity-deserving communities.
• ✔️ Demonstrated ability to lead inclusive research, journey mapping, and co-design with diverse user groups.
• ✔️ Strong experience designing and testing mobile-first wireframes and interactive prototypes (Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, etc.).
• ✔️ Knowledge and application of trauma-informed, culturally safe, and accessibility-focused design principles.
• ✔️ Familiarity with WCAG 2.1 AA, BC Digital Principles, and service design methodologies.
• ✔️ Strong collaboration and communication skills with cross-functional teams (development, content, governance).
