Job Description
Staff Accountant – Restaurant Group Position Summary The Staff Accountant will play a key role in supporting the financial operations of a multi-unit restaurant group. This position is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, with a strong focus on payroll, tip management, inventory, and month-end close processes. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
Key Responsibilities Payroll & Tip Management • Process and review payroll for multiple restaurant locations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and applicable regulations • Manage and reconcile tip distribution (“tip bundles”), ensuring proper allocation and reporting • Partner with operations and HR to resolve payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries Month-End Close • Support and execute the monthly close process, including preparation of journal entries and supporting schedules • Ensure all deadlines are met and financials are accurate and complete Account Reconciliations & Accruals • Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations, identifying and resolving variances in a timely manner • Record and monitor accruals, ensuring expenses are recognized in the appropriate period • Analyze financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, and areas for improvement Inventory & Cost Controls • Perform inventory reconciliations across multiple locations • Partner closely with restaurant management to investigate variances, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions Cross-Functional Collaboration • Work closely with restaurant management teams to ensure accurate reporting and operational alignment • Assist with process improvements and system implementations related to accounting and payroll Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field • 1–3 years of accounting experience (hospitality or restaurant industry preferred) • Experience with payroll processing and multi-location environments is a plus • Strong understanding of GAAP and basic accounting principles • Proficiency in Excel and accounting systems (R365, Toast) • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Key Competencies • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Ability to collaborate effectively with both finance and operations teams • High level of integrity and accountability • Independent, action-oriented mindset More detail about Schulson Collective HQ - Philadelphia part of Schulson Collective, please visit https://culinaryagents.com/entities/51365-Schulson-Collective-HQ---Philadelphia
