Supply Chain Management Specialist

Buyer Position

We are looking for a dedicated and strategic buyer to join our client. This long-term contract position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to procurement and vendor management processes that support production operations. The ideal candidate will excel in commodity purchasing, supply chain logistics, and supplier relationship management within the manufacturing industry.

Responsibilities:

• Procure commodities, raw materials, and packaging items to meet production requirements.
• Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers to optimize cost savings and ensure reliability.
• Monitor market trends and commodity pricing to anticipate changes and mitigate supply chain risks.
• Collaborate with production and operations teams to forecast material needs and align procurement strategies.
• Maintain detailed records related to purchasing, supplier information, and inventory levels.
• Evaluate supplier performance to ensure adherence to quality, delivery, and compliance standards.
• Support inventory analysis and develop strategies to maintain optimal stock levels.
• Implement supply chain risk management practices to address potential disruptions.
• Utilize supply chain modules and tools to streamline procurement processes.
• Contribute to organizational goals by demonstrating value and impact in vendor management initiatives.

Requirements:

• Proven experience in supply chain management, procurement, or commodity purchasing.
• Familiarity with supply chain logistics and inventory analysis.
• Strong negotiation skills and ability to manage supplier relationships effectively.
• Knowledge of supply chain modules and tools, including systems like PeopleSoft.
• Ability to assess supply chain risks and implement mitigation strategies.
• Strategic mindset with a focus on optimizing buying processes.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams.
• Previous experience in the manufacturing industry is highly preferred.
