Teacher - Librarian

Summary We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Teacher-Librarian to join our team at Orange County Public Schools. The ideal candidate will foster a love for reading and learning while providing essential resources and support to both students and staff. This full-time position involves collaborating with educators to enhance the curriculum, promoting information literacy, and managing the library's collection to ensure it meets the diverse needs of our school community.

Responsibilities - Develop and implement library programs that promote literacy, research skills, and a love for reading among students. - Collaborate with teachers to integrate library resources into lesson plans and support curriculum goals. - Manage the library collection, including selecting, acquiring, cataloging, and maintaining books and digital resources. - Provide instruction on information literacy, research methods, and the effective use of library resources. - Assist students in selecting appropriate reading materials and conducting research for projects and assignments. - Organize and host library events, such as author visits, book fairs, and reading challenges. - Maintain a welcoming and organized library environment conducive to learning and exploration. - Stay current with trends in education, technology, and library sciences to continuously improve library services. - Collaborate with other librarians and staff across the district to share resources and best practices. - Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in library services and education. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Library Science, Education, or a related field; - Valid teaching certification and/or librarian certification as required by state regulations. - Strong knowledge of library systems, cataloging, and information technology. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage students and staff effectively. - Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. - Passion for promoting literacy and a strong commitment to student success. - Experience in a school library setting is highly desirable. - Proficiency in using digital tools and resources for education and library management. - Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
