Accounting Manager
EHS Recruiting Company - Southern California
Job Description
ABOUT THE ROLE This is a confidential search on behalf of a high-growth, multi-unit restaurant group with over 80 operating locations across North America and more than 170 units in development. The organization operates a mix of corporate and franchise locations and is in an active phase of expansion. This is a key hire within the corporate accounting function, reporting directly to the CFO.
Title will be determined based on experience and is positioned as a potential successor to a Controller-level role. This position is fully onsite, five days per week, at the company's corporate office in Woodland Hills, CA. Candidates must be local or willing to relocate at their own expense.
OPERATIONAL SCOPE Lead day-to-day accounting operations across a multi-unit corporate and franchise business. Own the full general ledger including AP, AR, payroll, cash management, and fixed assets. Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
Partner with operations and senior leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance reporting. Ensure GAAP compliance and maintain strong internal controls. Support external audits and tax processes.
Identify and implement process improvements across accounting systems and workflows. Mentor and develop accounting team members. Support future M&A activity and IPO readiness initiatives as the organization scales.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. CPA strongly preferred. Five to fifteen or more years of progressive accounting experience with a minimum of three to five years in a leadership or supervisory capacity.
Multi-unit experience in restaurant, hospitality, retail, or a comparable industry strongly preferred. Advanced Excel proficiency required. Strong systems background required, with preference given to candidates with experience in Sage Intacct or comparable ERP platforms, MarginEdge, ADP, and POS systems.
Demonstrated ability to lead close processes, manage a team, and communicate proactively with senior leadership and ownership. Comfort operating in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with high growth expectations. Japanese language skills are a plus but not required.
THE ENVIRONMENT This is a corporate office environment within a brand-driven, high-growth restaurant group. The accounting function is lean, the pace is fast, and the expectation is that this leader operates proactively rather than reactively. The CFO is hands-on and values direct, transparent communication.
This hire will have visibility across the organization and room to grow as the company scales toward future M&A and capital market activity. IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE A technically strong, systems-driven accounting leader who is equally comfortable in the details and in cross-functional conversation with operations and ownership. Someone who brings process improvement instincts to an organization that is building infrastructure in real time.
Multi-unit hospitality or restaurant experience is a significant advantage. This role suits a candidate who wants a long-term seat at the table in a growing company, not a lateral move. THIS ROLE IS NOT THE RIGHT FIT FOR Candidates who require remote or hybrid flexibility.
Accounting professionals with experience limited to single-unit or non-hospitality environments. Leaders who prefer highly defined, stable structures over dynamic, growth-stage organizations. COMPENSATION AND DETAILS Title and compensation commensurate with experience: Bonus potential up to 15%.
Stock options plan in development. Benefits include 90% medical coverage, a 401(k), a 50% dining discount at corporate locations, and additional standard benefits. Full company details disclosed upon mutual interest.
