Bus Systems Analyst III (Inst) Description Common: Makes final determinations on systems requirements and technology selection and performs complex data analysis to ensure data management objectives are met. Provides guidance to lower level staff and serves as a subject matter expert to leadership. Recommends and provides direction for the mapping of business processes. Serves as a subject matter expert to institutional and unit leadership. Leads Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems to support the business operations of UW. Conducts system analysis and design, development of technical solutions within application and database management infrastructure. Assists and provides technical recommendations, training, and guidance to less experienced staff to support ERP systems. Resolves complex problems with minimal guidance. Unique: The Workday Enterprise Solutions Team (WEST) is responsible for the administration and optimization of Workday and related systems (including, but not limited to, Adaptive, Jaggaer / ShopUW+, RAMP) for Finance, Human Resources, and Research Administration across the Universities of Wisconsin System, while focusing on people, processes, and technology. This team will concentrate on continuous improvement and system maintenance, release enhancements, support, and strategic integration of the Workday ERP and related systems to achieve business objectives. Senior Business Analysts will support one or more teams within the WEST organization. Activities may include leading the review, redesign, and optimization of complex business processes, security policies, reports, and other system functionality, including ancillary and bolt‑on IT systems. Senior Business Analysts will be responsible for system maintenance, design, configuration, testing, and successful implementation of Workday releases. They will also evaluate additional features and systems to enhance user experience, compliance, research and analyze data patterns to troubleshoot or highlight areas of improvement, write reports and develop requirements for integrations or other technical solutions. The Senior Business Systems Analyst serves a vital role within WEST. Key Responsibilities Lead and conduct complex data analysis to ensure data management objectives are met and recommend improvements Serve as a strategic ERP advisor to leadership, offering insights and recommendations on system capabilities and optimizations Formulate and define systems scope and objectives through research and fact‑finding combined with a strong understanding of applicable business systems and industry requirements Lead and facilitate requirements gathering sessions with key stakeholders and subject matter experts, ensuring alignment with business goals Drive the design and modification of complex business information systems, document requirements, and resolve system logic challenges Identify, recommend, and implement programs and solutions to meet business objectives while balancing cost, performance, and resource constraints Write and present detailed reports and documentation that support business decision‑making and drive operational improvements Work on tasks including project or functional requirements, functional/technical design, configuration, testing, and process documentation Identify change impacts or training needs Provide leadership and mentorship to lower level staff, guiding them through complex tasks and projects Support and triage end‑user issues, ensuring a seamless user experience and prompt resolution of any system‑related challenges Required Qualifications Demonstrated experience analyzing complex business processes, requirements gathering, and developing business solutions Ability to perform complex data analysis Attention to detail with the ability to synthesize data and information into presentations and materials Strong communication skills (written and verbal) to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels Knowledge of methods to analyze business needs and recommend relevant solutions including policy, process, or system improvements Preferred Qualifications 5+ years experience as a Business Analyst with progressively increasing responsibilities, or 3+ years experience supporting Workday as a Business Analyst Experience supporting technical teams in Finance, HCM areas Experience working in a higher education setting Experience working with ERP systems Experience administering or configuring Workday Compensation and Benefits Salary range: $104,726 – $126,866 for Business Systems Analyst III (Inst). (Salary for Business Systems Analyst II is $95,219 – $115,352.) Location and Schedule Work location may be onsite or remote. Primary schedule Monday‑Friday, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM CST with on‑call or weekend rotation as required.
