Data Scientist

Helcim is seeking a Data Scientist to be a strategic partner in advancing our analytics capabilities. This role is a unique blend of deep technical work and high-impact stakeholder collaboration. You will own the full lifecycle of our data products—from ideation through modeling, deployment, monitoring, and enabling business teams to maximize impact.

Your work will directly address key challenges in FinTech such as fraud mitigation, credit risk assessment, and marketing optimizations. Responsibilities Design, develop, and implement production‑grade data products that drive strategic business outcomes. Partner with cross‑functional teams to translate complex business problems into clear analytical requirements, and provide actionable data‑driven recommendations.

Apply analytical techniques to optimize growth, sales, and digital advertising spend. Develop and maintain risk models to protect merchants and Helcim, focusing on fraud and credit risk. Own monitoring and ongoing iteration of deployed models, ensuring performance and alignment with business impact.

Contribute to the MLOps strategy and collaborate with the Data Platform team to ensure data capture, cleanliness, and system development meet high standards. Qualifications 3‑5 years of industry experience in Data Science or a similar analytical modeling role. Experience using statistical methods or machine learning algorithms to solve complex business problems.

Experience deploying and managing data products in a production environment. Proficiency in SQL and Python, or related languages. Ability to engage with cross‑functional and non‑technical stakeholders to gather requirements, communicate findings, and drive results.

Background in consumer or business credit, fraud modeling, or go‑to‑market/marketing analytics is a significant asset. Experience visualizing and organizing data through dashboards, charts, and reports (e.g., in Metabase). Familiarity with GCP, BigQuery, Metabase, dbt, and distributed computing platforms such as Apache Spark.
