Experience & Background (Must-Have)

• Formal fashion education background (NIFT / Pearl / NID or equivalent).

• 7+ years of experience in the fashion or retail industry.

• Must have closely worked on design and/or manufacturing & production (not purely conceptual design).

• Prior experience with homegrown or Indian contemporary brands preferred.

Role Overview

We’re looking for a Head Fashion Designer to lead design, sampling, and production execution at Kapaas. This is a hands-on leadership role, working closely with the founders to translate brand vision into commercial, high-quality collections rooted in Indian textiles and everyday wear.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end design development for collections (concept to final samples).

• Translate founder-led direction into silhouettes, prints, fabrics, and details aligned with Kapaas’ aesthetic (cotton, linen, chanderi, natural dyes, artisanal techniques).

• Head the sampling and production unit – manage timelines, fittings, quality, and approvals.

• Create and oversee tech packs, measurements, fittings, and production handovers.

• Coordinate with tailors, karigars, printers, dyers, and embroidery units.

• Ensure quality control and consistency from sample to bulk production.

• Support shoots, exhibitions, and collection launches with product and styling inputs.
