A movement for better thinking, smarter solutions and lasting impact.Together, we will advance our way of life and protect the integrity of our environment every step of the way.**Health and Safety Specialist****Are you looking to...*** Have autonomy and the opportunity to interact and work with a community of technical experts from other Montrose regions.* Partner with extensive, long-standing clients such as municipal governments, conservation authorities, academia, and private industry.* Join a well-respected environmental consulting company engaged in interesting, dynamic workAs a Health and Safety Specialist**,** you will join our **Calgary or Edmonton, Alberta** office as part of our Environmental and Employee Health & Safety Group.The successful applicant will be involved in a broad range of projects with responsibilities as follows:* This role balances hands‐on field support with program development, auditing, and advisory responsibilities.* Provide H&S support for Montrose project teams involved in Assessment, Remediation, Reclamation and Monitoring (ARRM) service line, including contaminated site assessments, remediation and reclamation activities, drilling programs, and construction‐adjacent field operations.* Support the coordination of local joint occupational health and safety committees.* Influence strong safety practices and culture to generate engagement and commitment from all employees.* Partner with the business, advise and coach leaders and employees to successfully conduct hazard assessment, emergency response planning and inspections.* Conduct in-field health and safety inspections. Field work may include remote or industrial sites and variable weather conditions, including winter field operations.* Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses to identify corrective actions that will address root causes and prevent future incidents.* Serve as an internal Certificate of Recognition (COR) Health & Safety Auditor, including leading or supporting internal audits, coordinating external audits, and tracking corrective actions, commensurate with experience.* Provide subject matter expertise and collaborate with teams for the development or implementation of programs (e.g., ground disturbance, excavation safety, off highway vehicle safety, driving safety, hot work permits, electrical safety for non-electrical workers, confined space entry,) that meet the needs of the organization, our clients and legislation.* Provide subject matter expertise for the development of communications and training. Examples include orientations and onboarding, risk assessment, emergency response, respiratory protection and ground disturbance.* Identify trends and issues for the teams and activities you support and engage leaders to proactively develop solutions.* Support the development and implementation of health and safety online and digital management tools (e.g., Benchmark, Workday Learning, Motive, Get Home Safe).**What We Are Looking For*** A minimum 5 years of experience in a health and safety role including field experience.* Occupational Health and Safety Certificate/relevant degree required.* Canadian Registered Safety Professional designation preferred.* Canadian Registered Safety Technician or National Construction Safety Officer designation will be considered.* Experience building collaborative partnerships and effective working relationships with all levels of employees.* Strong working knowledge of Canadian OHS legislation, with specific experience navigating AB, BC, SK, MB and ON OHS requirements and COR standards* Ability to apply critical thinking to organizational problems involving Health & Safety.* Employ proficient technical writing and apply adept organizational and project management skills.* Experience supporting construction, environmental, industrial, or energy‐adjacent projects in Alberta is an asset.* Experience using digital H&S management systems (e.g., Benchmark, Workday Learning, Motive, Get Home Safe or equivalent platforms) is an asset.* H&S auditing experience is an asset.* Industrial hygiene experience is considered an asset.* Injury, illness, and WCB claims management experience would be an asset.* Approximately 20 - 25% travel is expected.

We offer a comprehensive compensation package, which includes benefits, RRSP matching, vacation days and sick days. This is a permanent position with an hourly rate range of $29.00-$50.00, starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience and work location.
