About the Role
As a Lead Fashion Designer specializing in athleisure and sleepwear, you will lead the design and development of stylish, comfortable, and innovative garments that define our brand identity. You’ll manage end-to-end product creation—from conceptualization to final production—while mentoring junior designers and collaborating with cross-functional teams. Your expertise will drive the creation of trend-forward, functional collections that resonate with our customers.
Role Description
1. Research & Trend Analysis
o Conduct in-depth market research and trend forecasting to identify emerging styles, fabrics, and consumer preferences.
o Develop seasonal mood boards, color palettes, and themes in alignment with the brand’s creative direction.
2. Design & Conceptualization
o Create original, innovative designs that blend aesthetics with functionality.
o Develop detailed tech packs, including specifications, measurements, and construction details for each design.
o Oversee the conceptualization and refinement of collections, ensuring they meet both market demands and brand standards.
3. Material & Fabric Innovation
o Source high-quality, sustainable materials that enhance comfort and performance in athleisure and sleepwear.
o Build and maintain strong relationships with fabric suppliers and vendors.
o Stay updated on advancements in fabric technologies and integrate them into designs.
4. Sample Development & Fittings
o Lead the sample development process by working closely with Product Development and Quality Assurance teams.
o Conduct fit sessions, provide detailed feedback, and ensure final samples align with design intent and quality benchmarks.
5. Team Leadership & Collaboration
o Mentor and guide junior designers, providing constructive feedback and fostering their growth.
o Collaborate with Merchandising, Marketing, and Sourcing teams to align designs with business strategies and timelines.
o Act as the primary point of contact for design-related discussions and updates.
6. Project Management
o Develop and manage seasonal design calendars to ensure timely execution of deliverables.
o Streamline workflows to enhance productivity and maintain high design standards.
o Address and resolve any challenges that arise during the design and production process.
7. Brand Identity & Innovation
o Uphold and evolve the brand’s aesthetic through cohesive and forward-thinking designs.
o Drive innovation by exploring new design techniques, cultural influences, and consumer insights.
o Present design concepts to stakeholders and incorporate feedback to refine collections.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Design, or a related field (Preferably NIFT).
Experience: 10-12 years of experience in apparel design, with a strong portfolio in athleisure and sleepwear.
Proven track record of leading successful design projects from concept to production.
Technical Skills:
o Advanced proficiency in design software (Adobe Illustrator, CorelDraw, Photoshop).
o In-depth understanding of garment construction, patternmaking, and fabric properties.
o Experience creating and managing tech packs for production.
Soft Skills:
o Strong leadership and team management abilities.
o Excellent communication and presentation skills.
o Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
o Creative problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to challenges.
