If so, this role may be for you! Alberta EDGE (Environmental and Dangerous Goods Emergencies) is looking for a Regulatory Compliance Officer to work in their busy office.

Reporting to the Manager, Alberta EDGE, this position is solely responsible for the operation of the 24-hour Alberta EDGE. The incumbent provides information promptly and accurately on all aspects of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) legislation and regulations to the public, industry, Dangerous Goods (DG) Inspectors, provincial enforcement agencies and government departments. The incumbent will be responsible for receiving and entering all incoming reports of environmental incidents for Alberta Environment and Protected Areas (EPA), ensuring all incidents are appropriately directed to the Alberta Environment Support & Emergency Response Team (ASERT) on-call staff or the correct regional officer.

The incumbent processes all emergency and complaint calls for the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) ensuring the emergency calls are directed to the designated staff of AER that are on call. The incumbent will accurately log complaints and incidents regarding intensive livestock operations and forward them to the Natural Resources Conservation Board (NRCB) and on-call staff, as appropriate. The incumbent will coordinate environmental incidents and emergencies within the province and will liaise with Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) when federal jurisdiction is triggered.

The incumbent will also operate digital databases and accurately enter information into the Dangerous Goods Incident database maintain a resource library and conduct research, analysis, and reports on subjects such as trends in transportation, manufacture, and distribution of dangerous goods, etc. The main responsibilities for the Regulatory Compliance Officer are (but not limited to): Provide immediate information to DG Inspectors, enforcement agency personnel, industry, government department personnel and other persons on all aspects of the TDG legislation Responds to all emergency calls involving an incident or dangerous occurrence Maintaining the DG electronic applications, by inputting, updating or accessing the information in an accurate and timely manner. Responds to industry requests by researching and preparing information bulletins to assist industry in moving dangerous goods in compliance with legislation Respond to questions or inquiries from DG Inspectors and includes the retrieval of information on regulations, chemicals, companies, incidents and Permits for Equivalent Level of Safety (provincial and federal).

Processes incidents and complaints pertaining to EPA, AER, or NRCB. Qualifications (Required) University Graduation in a physical science field such as Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Engineering or equivalent, supplemented by at least 2 years of progressively responsible experience in environmental management or Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG). Preferred Qualifications Regulatory and Enforcement experience.

Alberta Class 5 driver's licence or equivalent. A related two-year diploma and a minimum of four (4) years of related experience; or A related one-year certificate and a minimum of five (5) years of related experience; or A minimum of six (6) years of related experience in lieu of formal education. Minimum Recruitment Standards This position is permanent full-time, with an average of 36.25 hours worked per week based on a rotating shift schedule.

Shifts may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, statutory holidays and December Closure periods. This role is based out of Twin Atria Building, 4999 98 Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta. #J-18808-Ljbffr
