What you’ll do?
Key Responsibilities
Structured Finance & Transaction Execution
• Structure and execute local currency debt transactions, securitizations, and portfolio financing structures across East Africa.
• Develop blended finance and credit enhancement structures involving DFIs, philanthropic capital, and private investors.
• Conduct financial modelling, credit analysis, and transaction structuring including for portfolio-backed financing, structured lending facilities, and blended finance vehicles.
• Evaluate transaction economics, portfolio performance metrics, and credit risk profiles.
Capital Raising & Investor Engagement
• Originate and cultivate relationships with local banks, pension funds, asset managers, and international impact investors.
• Prepare and present investment memoranda, credit notes, and deal structures to potential investors.
• Support investor roadshows and due diligence processes Partnerships & Ecosystem Development • Work closely with DFIs, multilateral agencies, and development partners to mobilize capital for inclusive finance.
• Build partnerships with local financial institutions, MFIs, SACCOs, and fintech’s to structure scalable funding solutions.
• Support technical assistance programs and grant-funded initiatives that strengthen financial institutions’ credit and data capabilities.
Strategic Initiatives
• Contribute to market expansion strategy in East Africa, identifying opportunities for structured capital solutions.
• Support proposal development for grant funding and catalytic capital programs.
• Produce market research and investor insights related to inclusive finance and fintech lending markets.
Who you need to be ?
• 3+ years of experience in structured finance, investment banking, DFI financing, or credit markets • Experience in financial modelling and credit analysis
• Bachelor's or master’s degree in finance, Economics, or Business (MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification advantageous)
• CFA Charter holder preferred
• Experience structuring portfolio-backed lending facilities, securitizations, local currency bonds, blended finance vehicles, or related transactions; plus familiarity with capital markets, portfolio risk analysis, valuation, and investment structuring.
• Experience preparing investment memos, credit papers, and investor presentations
• Strong relationship-building skills with DFIs, investors, and financial institutions
• Experience with impact investing or financial inclusion programs
• Excellent proposal writing and fundraising capability
• Strong communication and presentation skills
• Passion for financial inclusion and emerging market finance
• Entrepreneurial mindset with strong ownership
• Ability to work across multicultural and cross-border teams
• Strategic thinker with strong analytical capability
