Vice President, Finance

We are seeking a polished, collaborative, and strategic Vice President of Finance to lead all financial accounting, reporting, audit, and fiscal operations. This executive role partners closely with the President & CEO, Board of Directors, funders, and internal leaders while overseeing a small finance team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead financial strategy, planning, forecasting, and investment oversight.
  • Manage all monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, including quarterly grant reporting.
  • Present financial updates to the Board of Directors and support Budget & Finance and Audit Committees.
  • Oversee budgeting in an environment where funding and grant-driven budgets change annually.
  • Provide financial insights to executive leadership and program teams.
  • Maintain and improve financial systems, controls, and GAAP compliance.
  • Partner with Development on proposal budgets, philanthropic reporting, and revenue reconciliation.
  • Serve as primary liaison with investment firms and external partners.
  • Support annual audit preparation and manage audit schedules and workpapers.
  • Lead, mentor, and collaborate with a small finance team.
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of progressive executive-level finance and accounting experience
  • Strong background in US GAAP, nonprofit finance, and audit
  • Experience presenting to and working with Boards of Directors
  • Proven ability to build strong cross-functional relationships and receive/give feedback effectively
  • Experience working with investment portfolios or investment advisors
  • International financial experience is a plus
  • Confident communicator with high professional polish
  • Strong analytical and scenario-planning skills
  • Ability to lead in a fast-changing, grant-funded financial environment
